President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recounts his tense moment while watching the final match Indonesian national team Against Thailand, which ended with a victory and a gold medal Sea Games 2023 to Indonesia. Jokowi admitted he was surprised because the match he thought was over turned into an overtime round.

“Very happy, because Indonesia and Thailand 5-2, what I said about winning mentality yesterday, winning mentality, is very clear. Playing without mental burden, but we have waited 32 years to become champions in Southeast Asia, 32 years we have been waiting for it,” Jokowi said as broadcast on YouTube. Presidency Secretariat, Wednesday (5/17/2023).
He also told Jokowi how he watched the first goal, the second goal, until the end the match had to go to extra time. He admitted he was shocked and already shook hands with other spectators because he thought Indonesia had won without having to go to extra time.
“Because before that I was also wrong, I was already saved, I didn’t know I was still playing and scoring, I was surprised too,” Jokowi said.
Jokowi continued, “But congratulations to all the players, coaches and all officials. This has been working for years and continuously and then the competition enters after that training camp, I think this is very good.”
Jokowi also admitted that he screamed and jumped up and down while watching the Indonesia national team match. He recounted the moment he shook hands because he thought Indonesia had already won after the second round.
“Wow, I was screaming, seeing goals, screaming, jumping, you saw me with Paspampres, jumping and screaming, earlier 2-2 earlier, I had salutations on everyone, but thank God we are thankful, this is a process,” Jokowi said.
