Member of the Third Committee of the DPR party faction Democrats (PD) Santoso appreciated the decisive step taken by the Public Prosecutor St. Burhanuddin in dismissing the Public Prosecutor initialing EKT for committing blackmail to a primary school teacher, Sarlita with 35 million rupees related to her child’s drug case. Santoso considered that the plaintiff should be removed and punished.

In his statement, Wednesday (17/5/), Santoso said: “If a prosecutor is committing extortion, he must be removed. Because the person concerned violated the law of the public prosecutor’s office and abused power to extort the public with his position.” 2023).

Santoso finds the move taken by the Attorney General to remove the individual plaintiffs to be correct. According to him, strict steps must be taken to abolish such behavior from the internal prosecutor’s office.

“In order to get rid of this thug-like mentality that likes to blackmail people, there is a need for tough action by the leaders in the public prosecutor’s office, including the public prosecutor, against their subordinates who act in this way,” he said.

Previously, the Public Prosecutor’s Office (Kejagung) removed the Public Prosecutor from the Batu Para (Kejari) District Public Prosecutor’s Office with the initials EKT. This dismissal was carried out on suspicion that EKT extorted a primary school teacher, Sarlita, worth Rs 35 million in connection with his son’s drug case.

“Through this press release, the person concerned has been temporarily transferred from the position of public prosecutor and withdrawn to the North Sumatra Public Prosecutor’s Office for a supervisory examination,” said the head of the Criminal Investigation Office and Public Advocate. General Office Ketut Sumidana in a written press release, Sunday (14/5).

Ketut said the public prosecutor of ST Burhanuddin had ordered EKT to be prosecuted and given an appropriate punishment if found guilty. Ketut said the attorney general has always appealed to all of his staff not to mess around in handling any cases, including the commission of dishonorable acts.

“If it is proved that the person concerned has committed a crime, then upon the order of the Public Prosecutor, the person will be prosecuted and the appropriate punishment imposed,” Ketut said.
