The Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, Admiral Yudo Margono, gave an explanation regarding the speech regarding the revision of Law No. 34 of 2004 regarding the Indonesian Army which caused controversy. Judo said TNI Law Review This is the mandate of Prolegnas.
“The TNI law was just explained to me, and this mandate was from the 2014 national legislation program, 2019-2024, which we have not implemented yet. Yes, so it was proposed by Babenkom at that time, a small-level meeting,” Yudu told reporters in North Jakarta on Monday (5/15/2023).
However, Yudo said, it’s legitimate TNI Law Review He was only told this once. According to Yudu, the planned revision of the Indonesian Army Act still requires a comprehensive review.
“The matter was only explained to me once, and this has not been fully discussed. That is why the chairman said earlier that he would wait for discussion, and it has not been discussed yet,” Yodo said.
Yudo said that the draft amendment to the Indonesian army law will be submitted at a later time to Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto. Once completed, the draft revision of the Indonesian Armed Forces Act will be submitted to the People’s Assembly.
“Yes, later on, the level will be presented first to the Minister of Defense, and then it will also go to the DRC,” Yudou said.
Yudu explained that revising the TNI Act required a lengthy process. The draft circulated so far is only in its early stages.
“We will also hold a seminar on this later. It is not easy to review. It will not be introduced immediately. No, it is still a long process,” Yudou said.
“This is only the initial stage, and it is too early to allow it to be circulated, but I don’t know how it can be circulated, so of course I thank all the people for the response. It means that it shows that people still love TNI,” Yudu continued.
Previously, President Jokowi was also asked about the speech regarding the revision of the Indonesian Armed Forces Act. However, Jokowi did not want to comment as it is still in the discussion process.
“Later, when you’re done, hang up,” Jokowi said at Angk-Kapuk Nature Park, North Jakarta, on Monday (15/5).
