Perlintasan Liar di Jatinegara Ditutup, Warga Minta Dibangun JPO

Berthewe said that there were not a few victims who were injured by the KRL as a result of crossing the illegal crossing. This incident occurred either before or after the accident in which AKP Paddy Tullio died.

“There’s a lot of it. I got hit with it or something, that’s a lot before the police got beat up,” Perthewe said.

“After the death of the police, a person was injured yesterday and died. The pedestrians are very old,” he added.

Around this land crossing is also a hotbed of “nocturnal activity,” Perthewe added. It is suspected that the overland crossings were by those who often do “night activities”.

“Yes, it is. I think the indications are like this. That is why I said that those elements were like those who do activities at night. But we residents here are afraid to cross over from there,” he said.

Pertiwi has asked the provincial government to build a JPO that leads directly to Enjo market. In this way, he said, residents will not face any problem and will have to spend their money to use public transportation even though the location of the market is across from their residence.

“So the proposal to the local government is to build a pedestrian bridge. Moreover, we ladies want to go to Inju Market. Behind the concrete is Inju Market,” he said.

Another resident, Andrey, 42, reported the same. He said it was not uncommon for accidents to occur at these illegal crossings.

“The track was previously opened yesterday. Because there are often accidents, every morning and every evening, there are often accidents of people being run over. The problem is that if it is opened, these people are like scavengers and garbage collectors, and they like to sleep there,” Andrey said.

Andrei realizes that the illegal crossing endangers the community. Moreover, he said that the illegal crossing made it possible for people to reach Pasar Ingu on foot.

He continued, “If it opens, it will be more dangerous. Those people who go to the market early in the morning are already busy, and I am really concerned.”

PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta is known to have closed an illegal crossing at kilometer 12+400 on Jatinegara-Bekasi road, which is the death site of the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Buddy Towoliu. The mud road is now closed off by a wall.

The new wall looked as unpainted as the old wall next to it. More people can’t pass.
