Pangkalan TNI Dumai Gagalkan Pemberangkatan Pekerja Ilegal Menuju Malaysia

Jakarta

Dumai Naval Base (Lanal) managed to thwart the departure of 10 Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) is illegal to Malaysia. This was revealed by the head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Ramdani.

Penny said blocking 10 illegal admin pointers was implemented last Saturday (13/5). He said Lanal Dumai conducted a sweep immediately after receiving information that there was a plan to leave PMI and Foreign Nationals (WNA) illegally for Malaysia at Belintung Coastal, Dumai, Riau Province.

“They received this information at around 15.00 WIB, the joint team moved immediately and arrived at the site, and then the joint team conducted a sweep in the mangrove forest on the edge of Belintong Beach in Dumai City, Riau Province,” Beni told reporters. At BP2MI office, Pangkoran, South Jakarta, on Monday (5/15/2023).

Within an hour, Benny said, the joint team could find the whereabouts of the purchasing managers. He said they had gathered at a camp, waiting to leave.

“Through a sweeping operation by a joint team later at 16.00 WIB, the joint team found PMI suspects and foreign candidates who were gathering in the camp at their place or to be precise on the edge of Belintung Beach, Dumai City, Riau Province who were They are waiting left. So there is a camp. Precisely on the edge of Belintong Beach, Dumai City,” he said.

He said there were 10 purchasing managers who wanted to leave illegally for Malaysia. Not only that, there are also 24 foreigners from Bangladesh and Rohingya who are also leaving for Malaysia.

“Then according to the initial destination i.e. Malaysia, a total of 34 people with details of 10 Indonesian nationals or CPMI and 24 foreigners with details of 20 men and 4 women who allegedly came from Bangladesh, Rohingya or Myanmar were allegedly found to be foreigners.”

He said 10 of the PMIs were then transferred to the BP2MI office in Riau Province for protection. According to him, the purchasing managers left for Malaysia through recruitment brokers.

“What is certain is that they were conscripted by brokers, so whosoever was the candidate who brought the boat yesterday properly escaped, so that later he who brought this could be pursued to be an accomplice in that. Was he only steering the boat, or was he the broker, if he steered the boat?” Only the one who ordered it, paid it, the broker, and now the broker has been arrested, for example, then the broker can be asked for information, so who financed it? He said.

Furthermore, Benny said BP2MI has proposed banning passports of 10 PMIs for the next 5 years. He said illegal departures of purchasing managers would be reduced if the state was firm in imposing sanctions.

“Now we discussed immigration matters when I met with the Director General, we do not want those whom we prevent, we deal with it at the expense of the state, we return at the expense of the state, to their areas, tickets for travel, whether by land or sea, then they will suddenly arrive next week and leave again, so we automatically suggest banning their passports or for immigration to declare them invalid and the period of validity long enough for up to 5 years.”

He added: “If immigration were to get stricter, yes based on BP2MI’s proposal to ban everyone who left illegally or traveled abroad but was eventually deported, I’m sure there would be fewer and fewer attempts to leave illegally.”
