BP2MI Ungkap Arab Saudi Negara Favorit PMI Ilegal, Ini Alasannya

Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) revealed that 90,000 Indonesian migrant workers have been deported from abroad. Saudi Arabia has turned into a favorite destination for tourists PMI is illegal.

“We are reporting that 90,000 of our migrant workers in Indonesia have been deported from abroad, 90% of them are women,” said BP2MI Principal Secretary, Renardi, in Tangerang, Tuesday (16/5/2023).

Of the PMIs who were deported, most left illegally. While PMIs generally come from the West Java region.

“It is certain that 99% of the workers leaving were illegal. They generally come from the West Java region, from Bandung, Karawang, Garut, Bandung, Sukabumi and Purwakarta,” he said.

Meanwhile, Renardi reveals that the country is the main destination PMI is illegal It is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is because departure to Saudi Arabia only requires an Umrah or Hajj visa.

“The preferred country for non-procedural workers to leave is Saudi Arabia in general. First, because of that, Saudi Arabia only needs Umrah visas and Hajj visas,” he said.

“This is the reason why our workers prefer to look for improvements in their economic lives in foreign countries like Saudi Arabia,” he added.

Meanwhile, the second country to become a destination for illegal PMIs was Malaysia. This is because Malaysia, which borders Indonesia, has many entrances.

“Now my second favorite country is Malaysia, why Malaysia is the country with the most borders with us,” he said.
