25 WNI Korban TPPO di Myanmar Dipulangkan ke Indonesia 23 Mei

The government will immediately repatriate 25 Indonesian nationals (WNI) victims of the crime of human trafficking (advice) in Burmese. The repatriation is scheduled to take place at the end of May.

This was stated by the Director of Public Offenses (Dirtipidum) Brigadier General Djohandani Rahardjo Boro. He said that Indonesian citizens are currently undergoing an assessment process at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Bangkok.

“The 25 victims are being evaluated for repatriation. If I am not mistaken, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that they will be repatriated to Indonesia on May 23,” Djuhandani said at a press conference held at Pariscrem Poly on Tuesday (16 /). 5/2023).

The former Dirreskrimum Polda Central Java said that after they are sent home, investigators will still demand information from the victims. This, he said, aims to explore the issue of human trafficking, which is being investigated.

“We hope that after the victim returns on May 23, we also need investigators to be able to communicate this to us in order to investigate and deepen the process,” he said.

Victims can now be evacuated and are located at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. The government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kimlu), is still awaiting the administrative process for the return of the 25 Indonesian nationals to Indonesia.

For information, Bareskrim Polri arrested two TIP suspects, namely Andri Satria Nugraha and Anita Setia Dewi. The two were arrested on Tuesday evening (9/5), around 21.45 WIB, in one of the rooms of Sayana Apartment, Harapan Indah, Tarumajaya, Bekasi, West Java.

The suspects were charged under Article 4 of Law No. 21 of 2007 on Human Trafficking and/or Article 81 of Law No. 18 of 2017 on the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).
