An Angkot driver with the initials R (25) allegedly hit the car of a resident named Mohalkho Pande (38) in Kebun Mangga District, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. Bandy said R ran away when he was reprimanded after crashing his car.
“My car was worn out, when I hit him he ran away. I scolded him four times, the first time he ran away, he stepped aside as he said, but he ran away. Anyway, when he was scolded, Pandey told reporters on Tuesday (5/16/2023 ).
Pandey said NR ran about 2.5 kilometers to J. Almobaruk Raya, the Kebayoran Lama. He chased R by riding a resident’s motorcycle at the site and abandoning his car.
“I got out of the car, asked the residents to help the motorcyclist, I chased the Angkot driver. I left my car behind,” he said.
He said that R. ran away and drove recklessly. He said at that time there was still one passenger on the bus.
“He ran away but he was reckless, he was really speeding, endangering others, going in the opposite direction. There was still one person on the bus, he got off at a red light. I warned him again, he said he wanted to stop but he ran away again”
Pandey said NR could no longer escape because there was a car at the corner of the Naval Command and Staff School (CISCOAL) guard post. He said members of the Indonesian armed forces guarding the site helped secure R.
“I was helped by another driver to chase him. So, there was a car right at the turn, I couldn’t overtake him at the Ciscual turn, then he was immediately secured by the TNI who was guarding Ciscual, and he heard the screaming maybe that’s why I looked.”
He said R was also taken to the South Jakarta Metro Police. He said that he and R. made peace.
“When I was in the accident unit, how should the operation proceed or replace the materials. He asked for substantial changes, and I agreed,” he said.
Moreover, he said that R included a cell phone. He admitted that he chose peace because the damage to his car was not serious.
“But he didn’t have any money, and eventually he guaranteed his cell phone. Then until now his cell phone is still with me, he promised to take it back. Because the damage was light, it wasn’t really scratched, so it’s just peaceful.”
