Article 29 of Law No. 19 of 2019 on the Corruption Eradication Commission contains the requirements for becoming a leader of the KPK. One of them is the minimum age for a person to become the leader of the KPK, which is 50 years as a minimum and 65 years as a maximum in the election process.
Meanwhile, Article 34 states that the leaders of the Kurdistan Communist Party hold office for 4 years and can be elected for another term.
So, Gufron’s age in 2022 is 48 years old. This means that Gufron will only turn 49 in 2023 or when his term expires.
This made it impossible for Guvron to run for the KPK leadership again if he referred to Article 29 of the KPK Law. Guvron himself was elected as the leader of the KPK in September 2019 or before the passage of the new KPK law in October 2019. In the old KPK law, the minimum age for KPK leadership was 40 and the maximum was 65.
He said, “This criterion made it possible for me personally, based on Article 34, to then run for re-election in the next period. Then, with the enactment of Article 29, it becomes invalid, and this opportunity is covered, and it was banned,” he said. .

“Nominate or not, that’s at a later date. But what is clear is that what is being tested is the standard,” he said.
Ghufron added, “This means that it is my constitutional loss by enacting Article 29, letter (e).”
Guvron also said he has taken the suit to other KPK leaders. He said the other four KDP leaders responded well to Gufron’s interests.
