Bamsoet Ingatkan Ancaman Dekadensi Moral Generasi Muda Bangsa

Jakarta

The President of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly, Bambang Susiatio, reminded that the rapid flow of information technology has filled the minds and thoughts of the nation’s children with various new values. Unfortunately, not all of these new values are in line with the local wisdom values that are growing and developing in Indonesian society.

According to Bamsut, not all recipients of information also have a digital culture and civilization that is good at sorting and filtering incoming information.

He went on to cite data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association which revealed that the level of Internet penetration in Indonesia is relatively high. From 2022 to 2023, the internet penetration rate in Indonesia was 78.19 percent, or about 215.6 million people.

“The combination of these two variables, between low education and digital civilization with high levels of internet penetration, has the potential to give rise to various problems. For example, in the first quarter of 2023 alone, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics identified 425 hoax cases,” Pamsut said in his statement. It is circulated on websites and digital platforms, and here the importance of the existence of institutions that teach moral education, such as the College of Aqeedah Hasimiyya Jakarta Islamic State (STAI), stands out. Tuesday (16/5/2023).

He conveyed this while presenting the socialization of the Four Pillars of MPR RI with the executive boards of NU students across the archipelago at STAI Al-Aqidah Al-Hasyimiah Jakarta, Tuesday (16/5).

The diminishing of national and personal identity can be felt when values of civilization and local wisdom such as mutual cooperation, and courtesy, are increasingly displaced by hedonistic, individualistic, selfish, and pragmatic lifestyles, Pamsut continued. The noble traditions and values of the nation’s culture are old-fashioned and boring. Meanwhile, foreign cultural values are more advanced and modern.

“The growing understanding of radicalism as a result of the narrow and non-contextual meanings of religious teachings has also begun to penetrate the younger generation of the nation. From a broader perspective, extremist acts and terror against people are also being carried out by violent armed groups in the form of separatist movements,” explained Bamsuet.

According to Bamsut, the moral decline of the country’s younger generation can be seen through the many crime cases involving children. For example, when children commit abuse that transcends the limits of humanity, causing the death of the victim.

Bamsut also provided data from the Sitara Institute that revealed intolerance in religious life throughout 2022, revealing that 175 incidents and 333 acts of violation of religious freedom occurred in society.

“In order to achieve harmony and maintain harmony in the life of society, the nation and the state, each element of society must have a national perspective that sees itself and its environment as an ecological ecosystem. Mutual respect and cooperation with each other. Because it is social human beings, living side by side is human nature.”

For information, the event was attended by, among others, STAI Al-Aqidah Al-Hasyimiah Jakarta Muslihan Habib, National President of BEM NU Universities across the Archipelago, Wahyu Al Fajri, YADAI Foundation President Jamaluddin F. Hasyim, and Dawa Foundation Trustees Islam Suleiman Heikal.
